Manuel Soares is a current undergraduate student at Allegheny College, double majoring in Community & Justice Studies and Theatre. He is the current President of the Association For The Advancement of Black Culture (ABC) at Allegheny’s campus. He is also a Bonner scholar who is committed to civic engagement and community building during his time there. Born in Ohio to two pastor parents who both ran non-profit organizations, he has been involved in giving back to his community his entire life. He grew up in rural Arkansas until the age of 11. He then moved back to Ohio where he stayed until he graduated high school in 2018 from Timken Early College High school. While there also received his Associate’s Degree in Arts from Stark State College that same year.
Manuel is trained in sustained dialogue and has facilitated several complex discussions regarding identity; including race, gender, sexuality, and how each intersects through systems of power. He has a passion for the arts and enjoys acting, singing, and dancing whenever he has the opportunity. He aspires to have a career in the arts and use his artistic skills and platform to bring attention to and help dismantle systems of oppression. Manuel looks forward to working with Full Circle and is impressed with the team’s dedication and commitment to encourage him and others to continue this important work in the midst of hightentend times in our country.
